Plants in the Ladera Heights Community: Pampas Grass (Cortaderia Selloana)

Description:
Pampas Grass is native to South America, and is often used for its dramitc effect in California landscapes. It will typically grow to 8-12 feet, and in the fall, as the days start to shorten it will form dramtic white plumes. The leaves of Pampas Grass can be very sharp, so care must be taken for its placement to avoid creating a hazard.
Care
Pampas Grass does well in direct sunlight. It can tolerate a wide range of conditions and does well in dry environments. It can take a balanced fertilized (N-N-N with equal values of N) about four times per year.
Propagation
Pampas Grass may be grown from seed, which may be found in the plumes of mature plants. It may also be propagated by dividing a clump. Because of variations in the size of plants from different seeds, dividing the clump is the preferred method if you want uniform plants.
About this site:
This site is intended to bring together in one place, information and links that are useful to residents of Ladera Heights.
